You can change your student’s password, but the username (email address) must remain in the parent+student format. This is because we use parent email addresses with the “+student” extension for student accounts for several important reasons:
- Ensured Student Status: We do not communicate directly with students. Using parent emails confirms that each account belongs to a student.
- Parent Account Connection: This system ensures that every student account is linked to a parent account, providing a necessary connection for oversight and communication.
- Safety and Communication: Because students can submit questions directly to Dr. Robin, it’s crucial for us to be able to contact a parent if any concerning content is submitted.
- Account Maintenance: We regularly review student accounts and remove any accounts that are not associated with a parent email address, ensuring our records are accurate and up-to-date.
Therefore, while you can update the password for your student’s account, the username (parent+student email address) must remain as is.
